ESCOP Herb Reference

Your practical guide to medicinal plants

The European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy (ESCOP) was founded in 1989 as a European umbrella organization—of which the GPT is a founding member—for national societies for phytotherapy. ESCOP’s main objectives are the (European) harmonization of evaluation criteria for the efficacy and safety of herbal medicines, the promotion of research on herbal medicines, and, ultimately, the promotion of the acceptance and widespread use of phytotherapy at the European level.

For more than 20 years, ESCOP has been using its monographs to provide a clear summary of the latest developments in the field of phytotherapy. They can be purchased as PDF files on the ESCOP website. They are available free of charge to GPT members.
